If you aren’t already aware, we think it’s important to inform all users of our site that new age verification laws are being enacted right now across the U.S. and abroad, requiring all websites to confirm the age of their users as being over 18, before they can access adult content. This legislative shift is driven by growing concerns over the protection of minors online, affecting several regions of note including the United States, the United Kingdom, parts of Europe, Australia, and elsewhere.

In the U.S. alone, 19 states have already passed age verification laws, with more on the horizon likely to follow suit. There is some evidence, in fact, that age verification may soon become a national mandate in the US. The statutes vary, but broadly aim to restrict access to adult content for underage users and will impose strict penalties on websites that fail to comply. Tactics among them include mandates forcing websites to provide age verification by requiring users to upload government-issued identification and/or the use of third-party services to confirm their age before granting access to adult material. In the UK, the 2023 Online Safety Act requires similar measures designed to ensure a safer and more regulated environment.

For the safety of our users, our dudes, and this project as a whole we have decided to move forward with an established and accredited age verification service (AVS) VerifyMy. This is by no means an easy decision or an endorsement of this legislation. However, because of the growing list of places proposing these changes, we think it is prudent to screen all who access our site, and not just those from areas already affected.

- In the coming months, VerifyMy will use their proprietary methodology to verify the ages of existing members without requiring user interaction. For the cases where some intervention is required, we will work with you and VerifyMy to find a resolution to the matter.

- Once operational, all new users will be screened through VerifyMy before being allowed access to the site. We will provide further updates as we make progress and outline the steps needed to ensure uninterrupted access for our subscribers.
